Block and Bridle Prospect Weekend

 2011 Rules

 

There will be two shows running at the same time Ring 1

will start at 8:30 and Ring 2 will Start at 9:00.

 GENERAL RULES:

1. The Block and Bridle Prospect Weekend is an open steer and heifer show.

2. All out-of-state cattle must have health papers meeting Wisconsin requirements.  Bovine import requirements can be found at http://datcp.wi.gov/Animals/Animal_Movement/Cattle_Bison/index.aspx

3. Electrical power is limited; generators are encouraged. However,
they are not permitted in the barns.

4. Pre-entries are due postmarked on or before Wednesday, April 20, 2011 and are
non-refundable.
5. Junior Showmanship contest is open to all youth ages 7-19 as of January 1, 2011.
Showmanship registration will occur at the show and take place on Saturday May 7 at 5pm.

6. UW-River Falls Block & Bridle Club is not liable for any accidents or losses.

7. All rules are subject to interpretation by the show committee

8. Breed champions and class prizes will be pro-rated.

9. Exhibitors must provide their own bedding.

10. Heifers are only allowed to show as either a market heifer or a breeding heifer.

11. A minimum of 5 entries are required to maintain a breed division. Those breeds with less than 5 entries will show in the Any Other Breed division.

12. Animals showing in breed classes must have registration papers or a certificate stating the animal meets breed qualifications as defined by the respective breed association. All tattoos must be legible and match registration papers-not necessarily the exhibitor or farm name. Without proper breed identification, animals will show in the crossbred or commercial divisions.

13. Low percentage classes will be assigned if there are more than 5 entries. Percentage animals also require proper papers and tattoos. Steer classes will be determined based on what the breed association recognizes.

14. Cattle from Michigan must have an import permit to enter Wisconsin. The permit application form can be found at http://datcp.wi.gov/uploads/Animals/pdf/GeneralImportForm.pdf.  Any animals violating Wisconsin DATCP rules will be asked to leave the grounds.

 

HEIFERS:

1. Heifers will be shown by breed and age.

2. Commercial heifers will be shown by weight.

3. Breed associations registration papers are required for breed heifers

4. Heifers must be born after September 1, 2009.

MARKET ANIMALS:

1. Market animals will be shown by breed and weight.

2. Market heifers will shown as one breed and  shown by weight

3. Breed association registration papers are required in order to show in a breed class.

4. Steers and market heifers must be born after January 1, 2010.

5.In the crossbred division the top three steers will be selected.
